Introduction:
Are you looking to make changes to your fitness plan but aren’t certain where to start? A personal trainer might be the answer. Personal trainers help you accomplish your goals by creating a progressive training program that ensures you are on a path to success. Personal trainers also provide accountability, motivation, and fitness education, and they help keep you injury free. Personal training is a great way to maximize the benefit of the time you spend training. If you have a learning difference, personal training can be a supportive and comfortable place. At Monarch Fitness Coaching, when you work with our personal trainers, the exercises are thoughtfully selected with your preferences and goals in mind. We provide you with feedback to keep you progressing and celebrate with you when you reach your goals.
Progression Toward Your Goals
Not all goals are the same. Not all personal training should be the same. At Monarch Fitness Coaching, your personal trainer will develop a unique program tailored to meet your individual goals. Some examples of what clients have recently set for goals include the following:
- Traveling to Vietnam and biking for ten days,
- Watching the grandchildren and swimming, riding a bike, and playing wiffle ball with them during spring break,
- Hiking eight miles down into the Grand Canyon and participating in a whitewater rafting trip,
- Transitioning from competitive athletics to training for healthy living, and
- Rehabbing a meniscus tear caused by a skiing accident.
Monarch Fitness Coaching’s personal trainers help you by working with you to figure out your unique goals and then developing a personal training program that actually progresses you towards those goals.
Len Joy, age group 70–74, had worked with other personal trainers and coaches and noticed that he was often doing the same workout as all the personal trainer’s other clients. Len realized he needed the individual training that Monarch Fitness Coaching provides to help him continue to compete internationally for Team U.S.A. in triathlon and duathlon.

Accountability
Consistency is important in meeting your goals. Often in order to be consistent, you need accountability. Personal trainers can help you achieve consistency. You are less likely to cancel or skip personal training when you have an appointment. If you do need to miss a workout, your personal trainer is able to work with you to reschedule the appointment to a time that fits your needs. All personal trainers and coaches at Monarch Fitness Coaching limit the number of clients they work with and ensure that they have adequate availability to meet your needs. You won’t need to wait a week or more for your appointment. Additionally, we pride ourselves on not needing to cancel or reschedule appointments. If a personal trainer, at Monarch Fitness Coaching, cancels or reschedules your training session within 48 hours of your scheduled time, you receive a FREE session. The personal trainers at Monarch Fitness Coaching make scheduling easy, by encouraging you to set recurring times. And if you need to reschedule because a regular appointment doesn’t work for you, our scheduling software makes it very easy to schedule or change appointments.
Michael, age group 40–44, has a work schedule that changes each week. Michael appreciates that Coach Will has the flexibility to schedule Michael’s personal training on a week-by-week basis. If Will isn’t available, Michael is able to work with one of the other personal trainers at Monarch Fitness Coaching. Monarch Fitness Coaching uses training software that includes Michael’s workout history with the exercises, sets, repetitions, form corrections, and videos programmed for his personal training and unique goals; therefore, on the rare occasion when Michael’s primary coach isn’t available, it’s easy for another coach to step in.
Maximize Your Time
Ever gone to the gym and wondered if you should use the free weights, curl machine, or maybe hop on the treadmill? A personal trainer will remove the guesswork and help you make the time you are spending in the gym more valuable. The personal trainer will tell you what exercises you should do, how many repetitions of the exercise, and how many sets. They will be able to explain why the exercises were selected and how the exercises link to your progress and your goals.
Jeannemarie, age group 60–64, recently returned to horseback riding after experiencing a cycling accident. It was important to Jeannemarie to be able to ride her horse as soon as possible, while ensuring she did not injure herself or create maladaptive movement patterns. Additionally, she wanted to be able to bike to the stable and back. Not only did Jeannemarie reach her goal, she recently started jumping with her horse

Feedback, Education and Injury Prevention
Personal trainers provide feedback on how you are moving and how the movement connects to your goals. If your personal trainer notices your knees coming together during a squatting exercise, the trainer will let you know. Having your knees come together stresses your knee joint, puts you at risk for injury, and creates a maladaptive movement pattern. The feedback is beneficial to you not only during personal training, but also when you are using a squatting motion independently. For example, a squatting motion is used when you are getting up from a chair, climbing stairs, and getting off the floor. At Monarch Fitness Coaching, your personal trainer will provide you with videos and pictures showing you how you are moving and how you are progressing.
Susan, age group 70–74, finds that she is motivated to be more focused when she understands the purpose of each exercise and how it furthers her goals. Susan also experiences less frustration, because she is able to incorporate the knowledge into her activities of daily living.

Supports Learning Differences
Personal training can be a great alternative for those with learning differences or anxiety. Generalized instruction and sensory difficulties may make group classes inaccessible. Independent workouts can be intimidating. Gym etiquette is confusing. Personal trainers can provide you with one-on-one attention in an environment that supports your unique needs.
Claire, age group 30–34, finds that she feels best when distractions are limited. She likes an orderly space that has clear training guidelines and is devoid of bright lights, loud noises, and crowds of people. Monarch Fitness Coaching provides the pristine, calming, environment that allows Claire to focus on her training.
