Before starting personal training with Monarch Fitness Coaching you had some very specific goals in mind. Please tell us about those?
I wanted to be the prettiest princess on my wedding day. I chose to dress as Cinderella for a Disney wedding. When I began training, I didn’t have a specific wedding date; I simply wanted to prepare. I aimed to improve my posture, presence, and stamina for the ceremony.
There are many personal trainers in Evanston and even more on-line options. Why did you decide that Monarch Fitness Coaching was the right fit for you?
During my In-Depth Consultation and Training, Coach Heather gave me comprehensive tests and explained patiently how personal training at Monarch Fitness Coaching would help me to prepare for my wedding. Coach Heather observed my movement patterns and documented my goals. She observed that my shoulders often rounded forward and my legs rotated outward. She patiently informed me how a personal training program would help me meet my goals. The initial In-depth Consultation and Training, allowed me to feel comfortable that my goals were understood and that Coach Heather had devised a personal training plan that would not only guide me to my wedding, but would also improve my strength and stability.
You have had and continue to have a jam-packed schedule. How have you been able to balance academics, a wedding, traveling back and forth from the Midwest to the West Coast, and personal training?
Since my course schedule varies each quarter, I must adjust the training time accordingly. If a change is needed, I discuss it with Coach Heather, and she finds a suitable personal training time that works for both of us. Last year, when I moved to the West Coast for a quarter to prepare for my wedding, I transitioned from in-person sessions to Zoom and seamlessly continued with personal training. The flexibility allowed me to continue my workouts and wedding preparation despite moving and changing course schedules.
Have you met your initial personal training goals?
My wedding took place on December 6, 2023. I woke up at 5 a.m. for photos and continued throughout the day without feeling exhausted. Thanks to my personal training, I became increasingly confident and was able to stand tall. I can share some of my wedding photos with you.
Following the wedding, I went on a trip with my parents. My husband joined us after he returned to work for a short while. During our trip, my parents trained twice a day and enjoyed outdoor activities, like hiking. Personal training enabled me to keep up with them.
Since your wedding, have you thought of new fitness goals, and how does personal training help you with those?
Personal training has served as a way to detach from the academic hustle and find rest. It has helped me maintain a balanced life. I want to keep the workout habit and further improve my overall health and confidence. The flexible schedule provided by personal training at Monarch Fitness Coaching will help me maintain this habit and continue to be more and more confident. I like my life.
What advice would you give to someone who’s thinking about trying personal training at Monarch Fitness Coaching, especially if they’re new to it?
This is a very professional personal training studio. They design a plan for you and that is created only for you. Your personal training plan will change once you have a new goal or you think the workout frequency needs to change.
